Zegna Takes Its Summer 2027 Show and Villa Zegna to Beijing, Where Its China Story Began

Zegna will show its Summer 2028 collection in Beijing on 11 June 2027 and open Villa Zegna, its invitation-only private club, the following day. Beijing is where Zegna opened its first directly operated store in mainland China in 1991, and where it staged a show in 2011 to mark twenty years in the country.

Villa Zegna, the invitation-only private club of the Italian menswear house Zegna, will open in Beijing on 12 June 2027, the day after the house shows its Summer 2028 collection in the city, and run for several days. With the club, the house turns a single evening on the runway into days of hospitality for its top clients and the international press. The house agreed the date with the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, which organises Milan’s fashion weeks.

Beijing is where Zegna’s business in China began. In 1991 the house opened a directly operated store in the capital, which it describes as the first by a luxury menswear brand in mainland China, and twenty years later it marked the anniversary with a show in the city. Beijing will become the third city, after Dubai and Los Angeles, where Zegna pairs its summer show with the club.

In brief

Beijing. Zegna picks the city for each summer show on the strength of its cultural context. Since 2025 it has staged these shows away from Milan, and it presents the move as part of its strategy to promote Made in Italy in international markets. The house has not yet named the venues in Beijing for the show or the club.

Dubai. In June 2025 Zegna showed its Summer 2026 collection at Dubai Opera, in front of around 600 guests. Villa Zegna then occupied part of the opera house for five days. Named after the family house in northern Italy, it displayed suits from the wardrobe of the founder, Ermenegildo Zegna, and offered Il Conte, a fragrance limited to 300 Murano glass bottles, alongside a capsule collection of around 70 pieces. Lunches and talks filled the days after the show. Alessandro Sartori, Zegna’s artistic director, said of the collection: “There is a huge space between classic and avant-garde menswear that we can explore.”

Los Angeles. In June 2026 the house showed its Summer 2027 collection on Malibu Pier, and guests went on to Chateau Marmont, which Zegna had turned into Villa Zegna for four days. The theme was “Tutti a casa mia” (“everyone round to mine”), and the club drew on la villeggiatura, the Italian custom of decamping to the country or the coast for the summer. An Italian newsstand stood among the lounges and bars, and several rooms recalled TOP, the magazine Zegna published from 1967 to 1980. Guests could order looks from the collection they had just seen, and some pieces were sold only at the club.

The figures. Zegna Group revenue rose 8.9 per cent at reported exchange rates to €433.8m in the third quarter of 2026, or 8.2 per cent on an organic basis. The growth came from the group’s own stores, where sales rose 13 per cent to €335.3m, while wholesale revenue fell 5.2 per cent to €63.4m. Greater China contributed €84.1m, up 8.7 per cent reported and 5.7 per cent organic, below the group’s organic growth of 8.2 per cent.

Why it matters

Villa Zegna extends the time the house spends with its clients. The show lasts a single evening, and the club that follows gives the house several days with the people who buy from it, in rooms modelled on a family home and with some pieces sold only at the club. Guests can see the collection and order it in the same place, and they talk about it over lunch or dinner.

The format follows the shift visible in the large houses’ third-quarter results: luxury now grows through the clients it already has. Zegna is reducing its wholesale business in favour of what it calls a retail-first model and a more exclusive customer experience, and its own stores now account for 85 per cent of ZEGNA brand sales. The same change is reshaping how the houses design their shops, as Gucci and Moncler turn their stores into places for experiences, and Villa Zegna takes that idea out of the store and into a house that moves from city to city.

The decision to show outside Milan for a third year suggests a different role for the runway. Zegna takes its summer show to the cities where its clients live and travel, and selects each one for what it can add to the collection and to the club. Because the date was agreed with the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, the move does not set the house against the Milan calendar.

In Beijing, the house returns to a market it has served for more than thirty years. Greater China grew more slowly than the group in the third quarter, and the city of Zegna’s first store in China becomes the third to host Villa Zegna alongside a summer show.
