Co-Creation of The Boyciana
Named after the Oriental Stork, a symbol of dignity and longevity across Japan and Korea for centuries, it carries that meaning in its form, its materials and the gemstone at its centre.
Every Boyciana is made for and with its wearer. The leather inside and out, the thread, the hardware and the stone are chosen together. What ends up in one’s hands is a piece that will never be made again.
The Materials
The reference model shows the Boyciana in Forest Green: fine calfskin with lizard embossing, combined with goatskin suede in deep forest green at the front. The interior is fully lined in smooth calfskin – a detail that reveals itself only to the person carrying it.
All leathers are sourced from selected Italian tanneries. Since many materials come from deadstock, certain colourways and combinations arise only once.
The Options
The outer leather is available in calfskin, goatskin suede or cowhide, in a range of colours and textures. The inner leather, the thread and the Swiss-made hardware are chosen freely, according to personal feeling. At the centre of the bag sits a gemstone selected from more than twenty options: rose quartz, red tiger’s eye, malachite, tourmaline and others, all from certified mines and all personally chosen by Tanja Storchli.

Height 23 cm, width 23 cm, depth 8 cm. The Boyciana is available in two sizes, both wearable as a top-handle bag and as a crossbody.

Haute Maroquinerie represents the highest tier of leather craftsmanship, where every detail is executed by hand. At CICONIIDAE, all saddle stitches are set manually, edges are finished by hand in a multi-day process, and the hardware is Swiss-made.
Circular Craftsmanship describes an approach where materials are consciously selected from deadstock, traditional artisanal techniques are preserved, and objects are designed for long life cycles. At CICONIIDAE, certain colorways are created only once because the leathers originate from limited deadstock batches from renowned tanneries.
