Lotta Ludwigson: The LUMA Principle

Bio-circular, yarn-dyed, fully traceable: with the LUMA T-Shirt, Charlotte Piller extends the principle of her collection to the most everyday garment — in cooperation with Swiss textile specialist Remei.

The LUMA’s hangtag carries a QR code that leads to my-trace.ch. There, the journey of this T-shirt is fully documented: which field, which farming family in India or Tanzania, which production path from raw material to finished garment. The cotton comes exclusively from smallholder farming families with whom Remei has built long-term partnerships through guaranteed purchase agreements and a premium of 15 percent above the local market price.

The fabric is woven from a midweight single jersey, 190 g/m², the stripes formed in the yarn before the fabric is set — which explains why the colour achieves a permanence that surface-treated materials cannot. Ribbed collar and cuffs in contrasting tones, in orange, green or pink, give each variant its own character. Plastic-free packaging, ethically produced, designed for longevity.

Crafted to Last

It was an observation at a UN conference that stayed with Charlotte Piller, founder of the Lotta Ludwigson brand. A speaker wore a suit from a fashion label not known for fair production — that contradiction became the starting point. What followed were eighteen months of intensive development: the first fully bio-circular women’s suit, from the corozo button to the biodegradable shoulder pad, every component named and traceable. “We have learned that speed in this context is not progress,” says Piller. “If you want to create something that lasts, you have to accept that it takes time.” The LUMA T-shirt follows the same logic — for the garment one wears most often, buys most quickly, and questions least.

From fibre to packaging, the Lotta Ludwigson brand names every partner, every atelier, every material source. What the EU is still planning with the digital product passport, the brand is already practising. “We want to create fashion that people keep because it is valuable,” says Charlotte Piller. With the LUMA, that ambition has arrived in everyday life.

Charlotte Piller developed the first fully bio-circular women’s suit after years of research between Copenhagen and Berlin. A label born from the conviction that elegant business fashion and radical transparency are not a contradiction.

What is the Lotta Ludwigson LUMA T-Shirt?

The LUMA is the first T-shirt from the Lotta Ludwigson brand, developed by founder Charlotte Piller in cooperation with Swiss textile specialist Remei. Made from 100 percent certified organic cotton, yarn-dyed and fully traceable via my-trace.ch — from the seed to the finished garment.

Where does the cotton for the LUMA T-Shirt come from?
